Punta Gorda, FL Retirement Paradise!

A few days ago I heard that, after having studied 200 metropolitan areas in the country, Kiplinger placed Punta Gorda, Florida in the Top 10 list of "affordable cities that, as a group, offer retirees diverse choices in terms of size, climate, geography and lifestyle."  Way to go, Punta Gorda!  It's no secret though ~ I've known it a long time!

New Home Construction

It has been so nice to see new home construction happening around town again.  Local contractors and subcontractors are back to work and staying busy.  Many waterfront lots in Punta Gorda Isles, Burnt Store Isles and South Gulf Cove have beautiful new homes currently being built on them.  The insurance quotes that I've gotten for customers recently for both flood insurance and homeowners' windstorm coverage have made this a more popular option for those considering buying into the area.

Charlotte County Back to Seller's Market

Median sales prices in the Charlotte County area have increased by 12% in the past year, from $125,000 to $140,000.  With the little bit of a decrease in the number of months' worth of inventory, we have arrived back at a seller's market.  If you're a homeowner and have been waiting to make a move up or down in lifestyle, I'd love the opportunity to earn your business and help you to sell your home for top dollar.

Southwest Florida Market Ready for Season!

The weather may be getting a little chilly up north, but the Southwest Florida market has been heated up and very busy all summer.  Excitement is in the air for a very active real estate season here along Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico, as the northerners are already making their way south looking for a new lifestyle.  Housing inventory has been maintaining a steady low level and prices have been making a gradual slow rise.  Listed days on the market have dramatically decreased.  Time to buy!

Interest Rates Going Into 2015

Good news was reported today from USA Today.  The Federal Reserve is in the midst of meetings to come to an agreement on keeping the interest rates low at least until mid-2015.  This is good for buyers who are considering making a move up or down in their lifestyle.  Today's average for a 30-year fixed rate conventional loan is 4%.
