Rotonda West, “that round circle on the area map” as most people describe its location, is a deed restricted community that was started in the mid 1970s and platted for 8,000 home sites. There are a lot of newer homes that were built during the building boom time, and there are still vacant properties available to build your dream home on. There were 6 semi-private golf courses built throughout Rotonda and 30 miles of waterways, giving residents a variety of setting options. This location in the county has been favored over the years for the short time it takes to drive to Boca Grande, Englewood and Manasota Key Beaches. It was also favored in its startup by television’s The Tonight Show’s own Ed McMahon, who was Johnny Carson’s longtime co-host. He owned a custom built home within the community. If you’re a boater, there is a storage area in the center part of the “circle”, or there are several marinas nearby at which you can keep your boat stored, maintained, and ready to be put into the water for you.
